Serving small businesses across the Midwest

Pay once. Own it forever.

Most website companies rent you a site for $500 to $10,000 a month and keep the keys. I build yours for one flat fee, hand you the domain and the files, and walk away. Live in two weeks.

Free, no call required: a written report showing exactly what a customer sees when they look you up on a phone.

Your three options

Build it yourself, rent one forever, or own one outright.

Every small business shopping for a website ends up choosing between these three. Here's the honest version — including where I'm the wrong answer.

Do it yourself National marketing agency Anvil Web Co.
What you pay $17–$160 / month, forever $500–$10,000 / month, plus setup $2,900 once
Cost over 3 years $600–$5,800 $18,000–$360,000 $2,900 + domain (~$15/yr)
Who builds it You do, on nights and weekends They do I do
Who owns it You — but only on their platform Usually them. Read the contract. You, outright, in writing
If you leave Site goes dark Site often goes dark You keep everything. I help you move it.
Contract Month to month 6–12 months typical, with early-exit fees None
Time to live Weeks to never 6–12 weeks 2 weeks
Best if… You enjoy this and have the time You want ads, SEO and a full team, and the budget for it You want a great site, once, and then to get back to work

Where I'm the wrong answer: if you need a big paid-ads program managed month to month, a national agency will serve you better than I will, and I'll tell you so on the call. And if you genuinely enjoy building things, Squarespace is good software — you don't need me. Price ranges above reflect publicly reported figures across the category, not any single company.

Why it matters

People decide before they ever call you.

A Facebook page and a phone number used to be enough. Not anymore — not when someone is standing in their kitchen at 8pm deciding which of three names to call.

SEE IT
BEFORE
YOU PAY

You've never met me. So I go first.

Unless you're in southwest Michigan, I'm not down the street from you, and I know that matters. So the deal is built to make trusting me cheap:

You see the finished site before you pay the balance. Not a mockup, not a wireframe — the actual site, on a real link you can open on your phone and send to your spouse.

If you don't like the first version, you get your deposit back. No argument, no invoice for "work performed." I'd rather lose $1,450 than have you tell people I was a mistake.

And you own it either way. The domain is registered in your name from day one — not mine.

What you get

Everything a small business actually needs. Nothing it doesn't.

📱

Works on every screen

Phone, tablet and computer. Phone visitors get the same full site, not a cut-down version.

⚡

Loads in under two seconds

No bloated page builders, no forty plugins. Your site is served from a global network, so it opens fast on a phone with two bars.

📍

Google Business Profile, done right

I set up and optimize your Google listing as part of the build — categories, hours, service areas, photos, review link. Most shops charge extra. I don't.

✍️

Words written for you

You don't write anything. I interview you for 45 minutes over video and write the whole site from that. You approve it before it goes live.

☎️

Designed to make the phone ring

Tap-to-call in the header, a quote form people actually fill out, your service area spelled out, and your reviews where customers will see them.

🔑

You own it. All of it.

Domain in your name, files handed over, no lock-in. If you ever stop working with me, you take the site with you. That's in the agreement, not just on this page.

Pricing

Published, because you shouldn't need a sales call to learn a price.

Almost nobody in this industry publishes prices. You should know what something costs before you ever get on a call. Half down to start, half the day your site goes live.

Genuinely optional. If you'd rather host it yourself, I'll hand you the files and point you at a host that costs about a dollar a month. I'll say that out loud on the call. Either way, your domain is registered in your name and you pay the registrar directly (about $15 a year) — it never goes through me.

How it works

Four steps, two weeks, one 45-minute conversation from you.

All of it happens by phone, video and email, so you never lose an afternoon to a sales visit. If you're near Kalamazoo and would rather meet in person, I'm happy to.

Free site check

I look you up the way a customer would, run the speed and mobile tests, and send you a written report of what I found. Free whether or not you hire me.

Day 0 · I do the work

One interview

45 minutes on a video call. What you do, who you do it for, why people pick you. I write the site from this. You write nothing.

Day 1–2 · 45 min

I build it

Within a week you get a private link to the real site — not a mockup. Open it on your phone. Tell me what to change. I change it.

Day 3–10

Launch & hand over

I point your domain, submit to Google, tune your Business Profile, and send a short video showing how to update anything yourself.

Day 11–14
Questions

The things people actually ask.

You're not local to me. Why does that not matter?

For a website, it mostly doesn't — everything I'd do in your conference room I do just as well on a video call, and you don't lose an afternoon to it. But I won't pretend it's nothing: you're trusting someone you've never met. That's exactly why you see the finished site before you pay the balance, why your deposit is refundable if you hate the first version, and why the domain is in your name from day one. If you'd still rather hire someone in town, that's a completely reasonable choice and I won't try to talk you out of it.

Why is this cheaper than the agencies that keep calling me?

Because it's just me, you deal directly with the person responsible for your site, and I'm selling you a website rather than an ongoing marketing retainer. The companies quoting $1,000+ a month are bundling ads, SEO and account management into a subscription. Some businesses need all that. Most just need a good website that works.

Is there a contract I'm locked into?

No. The build is a one-time fee. The $49/month care plan is month-to-month and you can cancel any time — if you do, I hand over the files and help you move. The 6-to-12-month agreements common in this industry are how companies keep charging you after you've stopped being happy.

Who owns the domain and the site?

You do, both. The domain is registered in your name with your email as the owner. On launch day you get the login and the files. If I disappeared tomorrow, your site would keep running. This is the single biggest complaint people have about the big national providers, and it's the easiest thing in the world for me to do differently.

I already have a website. Is it worth redoing?

Maybe not. That's what the free site check is for. If your site loads fast, works on a phone and brings you calls, I'll tell you to keep it and save your money. I'd rather send you an honest no than sell you something you don't need.

Do I have to write the content?

No. One 45-minute video call is all I need. I write it, you read it and mark up anything that doesn't sound like you.

How do payments work?

Half up front to get on the calendar, half the day your site goes live. Card or bank transfer, with a proper invoice. The deposit is refundable if the first version misses.

What if I need changes later?

Small text and photo edits are covered by the care plan — send an email, I do it. Bigger changes are quoted at $150/hour, or you can edit things yourself with the handoff video I record for you.
